This is a US Cavalry Spencer Model 1865 56/50 carbine, With three-groove rifling and the 'Stabler cut-off' device added to make the carbine into a single shot weapon. It is in very good condition with a lovely bore. The original bright fire bluing remains on many of the screws as well as the trigger and fore-end leaf spring. There is the odd small patches of pitting all of which are shown in the photos I have, not as bad as it may sound. Overall the gun has a nice patina with some finish in places. Walnut stock and fore-end are very good condition with some stains from use, the stock is stamped “28”, it also retains retains two original government cartouches stamped on the reverse side (left) just behind the sling bar.The cartridge tube is original and in fine condition and tight fitting. The mechanism is strong and crisp in great working order, no wobbles or worn/loose parts. Please email for full details and photos. £1750.
