1942 Chevrolet G7117 or G506 1 1/2 ton.
She came off a UK air base in 1967 with a bomb carrier on the rear although she started life as a 5th wheel truck. (G7113 on the data plate)
She did many shows through the 70’s then she was laid up until the mid 90s where she was resurrected with a fresh 270ci engine, rear dump body and paint.
The then owner found US Navy colours under the years of green paint so thats when she was sprayed to this livery.
She's not for the purest collector, she's a driver, period things on her have been added over the years that make her quite unique and a real head turner.
I very rarely drive her with the canvas up, it takes something away from the enjoyment.
Not for the faint hearted, no synchro's, heavy on the steering until you get used to it and as for squeezing through tight spots, forget it. I got her in the early 2000’s, did a brake overall, swapped the tyres out for the bigger 900’s ones used in the Pacific and have run her ever since.
She always needs a little love, oils, grease, fliters, paint, but nothing major, she is 77 years old. She runs strong, will tick along around 40mph.
Original 4 speed box, stronger than the 5 speed GMC Unlike the GMCs that stop dead when you show them a hill, this one only has the one rear axle she will pull 40mph all day long, the 270ci GMC is a much better engine than the Chevrolet lump of the time, the electrics have been converted to 12v alternator, wiring for the wipers needs some attention (a little intermittent).
There is a small tear in the main canvas about 5cm long that i've been meaning to get stitched for about 4 years.
She comes with some spares including a full size new spare wheel, I have hoops and front/rear curtains plus the main canvas for her.
I will be going to War and Peace this year if you want to have a look around. Alternatively I'm based in Burwash TN19 7LG I’ve had years of fun with her, my family has grown up with her and it's now time to move her on to another family.
Sensible offers please I'm not letting her go for a song, so serious buyers please, she's not kept at my address so I will need time to get her out.
Bank transfer or cleared cheques before the vehicle leaves my premises.
