This lovely C8 was sympathetically restored in 2016 as an RAF vehicle of 144 Wing of the Allied Tactical Air Force operating in Normandy in June 1944.
She was shown in the UK in 2017 and Normandy in 2018. She starts straight away and hums along beautifully.
Brakes and steering are typical for her age. The vehicle was originally the radio version so had a PTO for a generator and “elephant trunk” canvases.
The restoration made the vehicle a General Service (GS) version and includes bench seats, water containers (modern), storage box and compo ration box (concealing a modern drinks cooler) in the rear load space. The restoration also included five new tyres, battery and canvases.
The engine is a Nuffield TVO Universal and was renovated in 2019 with new piston rings, lapped valves, honed block, ground crankshaft, new big-end main bearings and new main bearings.
Modern additions include two fire extinguishers, battery shut-off switch, Landrover Mk1 windscreen wipers, fuel pipe insulation, indicators and main headlights and cab stowage. The aim was to create a vehicle suitable for re-enacting, rallying and showing.
Any parts removed for the restoration are available and she comes with driver’s and rare workshop manuals as well as boxes of spares, oils and lubricants. Youtube video of the Morris when she was 95% complete is avaialble on request - all of the kit you can see and more fitted in the back!
The kit is clearly not for sale but indicates the volume of the rear cargo stowage.
The vehicle is available to view near Ipswich.
